We are happy to report that we will start our Middle School Saturday Academy on December 1st. We will host a breakfast at 10:00 a.m. for the tutors, the students attending the Saturday tutorial and their parents. Students at the Adams campus Middle School are eligible to participate. Students must have been referred by their homeroom teacher in order tto participate. We will offer one on one tutoring in Spanish, Science, Reading and Math. We will have three sessions from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
We are also happy to report that we have a partnership with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). They will provide mentoring services for selected students in grade 5 during the lunch period. They have 16 mentors - some will mentor in Spanish for 45 minutes. In addition they have agreed to participate in our Speakers Bank. They have a wealth of people in many different areas - and many of them will be able to present in Spanish.
Student Council Officers Elections (SCA) will be held during the week of December 5th. The campaign regulations will be distributed to the students and their parents on November 26th. Students elected as room representatives are eligible to run for office. Elections will be held for Co-Presidents, Secretary, and Tresurer - The Adams campus will have a lower and upper school president. The Oyster campus will elect their officers from the 2nd and 3rd grade: president, secretary, and treasurer. The campaigns will conclude on Thursday, December 8th --election day!.
Patrols will hold their first meeting on Wednesday, November 28th at each campus. Officer Friendly has now located a Spanish speaking officer that will help him with patrol training. Soon, you will see our students serving as patrols during lunch, and at dismissal on both campuses.
Citrus Sale reminder: Orders for oranges or grapefruit must be turned in to Kathleen Smith by December 5. If you do not have an order form, you can either pick one up in either of the school offices or print one from the school website at www.oysterbilingualschool.com/News
Please sign up to volunteer at the Oyster/Adams Bilingual Book Fair and/or the Holiday Tree Sale (both events located at the Oyster campus). These are two very important and FUN events and we need lots of people to help. Sign up sheets are posted in the front lobbies of both schools.

Por favor ofrézcase voluntario para la feria del libro y para la venta de árboles de navidad (los dos eventos serán en el plantel de Oyster). Estos acontecimientos son muy importantes y divertidos y necesitamos muchos voluntarios para los dos. Las hojas para anotarse se situarán en el hall de los dos planteles.
El horario para la visita de los salones a la Feria del Libro estará disponible la próxima semana. ?Compruébelo en su correo electrónico o pregunte a los maestros de su hij@!
Estamos encantados de anunciar que el 1 de diciembre empieza nuestra Academia de Clases de los Sábados. En la Academia, ofrecemos clases particulares en español en tres asignaturas (ciencias, lectura y matemáticas) en tres sesiones de 10:00 am a 1:00 pm. Las clases son exclusivamente para los estudiantes de Adams cuyos maestros han indicado que necesitan ayuda adicional. El 1ero de diciembre habrá un desayuno a las 10:00 de la mañana para los tutores, los estudiantes que asisten a las clases de los sábados y sus padres.
También estamos encantados de anunciar que el Fondo Monetario Internacional (FMI) nos proporcionará mentores para estudiantes de 5? curso durante el período del almuerzo. Habrá 16 mentores, algunos de los cuales hablan español. Además, participarán en nuestro "Banco de Oradores." En el FMI trabaja una gran cantidad de personas en muchas áreas diferentes, y muchos de ellos podrán presentar en español.
Las elecciones de directivos para el Consejo de Alumnos tendrán lugar durante la semana del 5 de diciembre. Las reglas de la campaña serán distribuidas a los estudiantes y sus padres el 26 de noviembre. Las elecciones serán para presidente, secretario y tesorero. En el plantel de Adams elegiremos co-presidentes. En el plantel de Oyster los alumnos de 2ndo y tercero podrán participar. Podrán presentarse como candidatos los estudiantes que hayan sido elegidos como representantes de los campañeros de clase.
Los alumnos que forman parte de las Patrullas de la Seguridad tendrán su primera reunión el miércoles 28 de noviembre en ambos recintos escolares. Un agente de policía, el oficial Friendly, ha encontrado a una persona que habla español y que lo ayudará con la instrucción de las patrullas. Pronto podrán ustedes ver a nuestros estudiantes patrullando durante el almuerzo y a la hora de salida en ambos edificios.
