If you placed an order for giftwrap, gifts or food items from the "Let it Snow" and "Broadway Cafe" sales brochures please note that the supplier has changed the delivery date. The new delivery date has been set for Tuesday, November 27, 2007. The supplier has temporarily run out of several of the food items and cannot ship the orders until after Thanksgiving. The second annual Oyster/Adams Holiday Tree and Wreath Sale will take place during the first two weekends of December at the Oyster building. We need volunteers to work shifts throughout each weekend. Volunteer sign-up schedules are posted in the lobbies of both school buildings. Please sign up to help (this is an especially great volunteer opportunity for those Oyster/Adams dads) and remember to buy your holiday trees and wreaths at Oyster-Adams! Remember that orders for poinsettias need to be turned in to the OCC (at either campus) no later than Tuesday, November 20. If you need a flier and order form, you can either pick up a hard copy in the office at either campus or go to www.oysterbilingualschool.com/News.
School visit dates for parents interested in enrolling their children at Oyster-Adams Bilingual for the coming school year have been set. Our first visitation date is scheduled for Wednesday, November 21st,, 2007. For additional dates, please check the oysterbilingualschool.org website. The lottery will be held at the end of February.
Please plan to attend the Principal's Coffee on Tuesday, November 20th, at 9:00 a.m. at the Oyster campus. This coffee is especially for parents with students in the Special Education program at Oyster-Adams. As promised we will host a coffee each quarter to inform parents and bring them up-to-date about the services that their children are receiving.
After-school tutorials will begin on Monday and Wednesday starting on November 28th from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. Because we do not have many tutors available at the moment we will begin the program on a small scale at the Oyster campus. You will receive a letter from your child's teacher if your child is being recommended for this service. If you do not receive a letter but wish for your child to participate, please let your child's teacher know so you can be placed on the waiting list. We will start a Saturday Academy at Adams soon and more information will be sent home on November 30th.
OCC General Meeting Reminder: The OCC will hold a General Meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 5, from 6:15-8:15 at Oyster. The entire Oyster-Adams community is urged to attend. This is the first opportunity of the year to gather with the whole community and hear updates from the OCC and the LSRT, but we will reserve most of the time for you to ask questions and air concerns. Come and learn what is happening at your school! Pizza and childcare will be provided.
Volunteers Needed! Parent volunteers are needed for Friday work days at Adams. Examples of the tasks include shelving and organizing textbooks and organizing the science lab. DC MPD Traffic Violation Letter
Notice to all parents who use the drop-off circle in front of Oyster School.
The DC Metropolitan Police have issued a notice that any person who turns left out of the Oyster School driveway during drop off or pick up, or who parks in the driveway during drop-off hours in violation of the signs posted, will be given tickets by the police starting Friday, November 16th. If you turn left, you will be fined $25 and lose two points from your license; if you park in the driveway, you will be fined $30 and towed. (See the attached letter from DC MPD.)

Por favor asista al café con la Directora que sera el martes, 20 de noviembre a las 9:00 a.m. en el plantel de Oyster. Este café esta especialmente dedicados para aquellos padres que tienen hijos en el programa de Educación Especial, tanto en Adams como en Oyster. Como les prometimos tendremos un café cada cuatro semanas para informar a los padres de las ?ltimas noticias y de los servicios que sus hijos reciben.
Las tutorías de después de la escuela serán los lunes y miércoles dando comienzo el 28 de noviembre de 3:15 a 4:30 pm. Debido a que no tenemos suficientes profesores para este programa, las clases darán comienzo en pequeña escala en el campus de Oyster. Recibirá una carta del profesor de su hijo si está recomendado que asista a estas clases. Si usted quiere que su hijo asista a este programa aunque no haya sido recomendado, hágaselo saber al maestro para que lo anote en la lista de espera. Dará comienzo en Adams una escuela de los sábados y pronto o el 30 de noviembre le enviaremos más información al respecto.

DCMPD - Violaciones de Transito
Para todos los padres que usan el círculo en frente de la escuela de Oyster:
La Policía Metropolitana del Distrito ha mandado una notificación que cualquier persona que doble a la izquierda cuando salgan del círculo durante las horas de dejar y recojer o que estacionan sus vehículos en zonas de NO ESTACIONAR, recibirán tickets de la policía empezando el viernes 16 de noviembre. Si usted da vuelta a la izquierda, recibira un ticket de $25 dollares y perderá dos puntos en su licensia. Si se estaciona en areas de no estacionar recibirá un ticket de $30 dollares y será remolcado.
