Marta Guzman Principal
You haven't been feeling so great for the last few days, and you've had a runny nose and a cough. Then one morning you wake up and stumble into the bathroom. You look in the mirror with blurry eyes and ? yikes! You have chickenpox!

Along with a short update from the LSRT, we have two very important items on our agenda for the evening: the parent community must vote to approve the budget for the coming school year. We also must vote to approve some changes to the organizational structure of the OCC (including possibly setting up a Parent Adjudication Board; trimming the board membership; and installing two new Volunteer Coordinator positions). Parents receiving electronic Friday folders should click on the links below to access these documents. Please make sure you sign up to help and bring food for the potluck. Also, have your kids bake a cake for the cakewalk - make them as crazy as you can! Remember, the location of the Fiesta has been changed from Adams to Oyster. We look forward to seeing everyone there!
Interesting RAFFLE fact: If every child at Oyster/Adams sold just 20 raffle tickets, we could earn $10,500 for our school! That's two-thirds of the way to our goal of $15,000! So, PLEASE get out there and sell 20 tickets OR MORE - every little bit helps. Send the completed ticket stubs and money to your child's teachers as soon as you can - the raffle drawing is on Saturday, May 3rd (winners announced at the Fiesta). Remember, the class that sells the most tickets per student gets to have a pool party! If you need more tickets, you can ask your child's teacher or contact Serena Wiltshire (202-249-8327 or wiltshire@starpower.net).
Have your children outgrown some of their books? The Oyster Campus Student Council will be having a used book and bake sale at the Fiesta and is looking for donations of gently used books that are in good condition. Please drop any donations in the boxes located in hallway behind the stage (enter through the door across from the drinking fountains on the first floor of the Oyster building). Thank you!

Dear Oyster/Adams Families,
April 11, 2008
It is time for the Oyster/Adams FIESTA! The FIESTA is our annual family event that features food from around the world, games with great prizes, moonbounces, dunk tanks and other amusements, snow cone and cotton candy machines, a cake walk, entertainment, the Fiesta Marketplace (new this year) and more.
Everyone at Oyster/Adams can help make the FIESTA a success. Each class at Oyster/Adams is asked to help by running/staffing a game, craft, amusement (e.g., the cake walk, the moonbounce, facepainting) or food station on the day of the FIESTA. Your class room parents will be contacting you next week about what your class will be doing and asking you to staff your class' activity for a short shift.
In addition, each family can help the overall effort by preparing a dish to pass at the potluck, baking a cake (as crazy as you want it to be) for the cake walk and/or volunteering to set-up or clean-up on the day of the Fiesta. Do one, two or all of these things!
Please talk to your kids and think about how your family can help out at this fantastic event. Look for a volunteer sign-up form in next week's Friday folder. If everyone at Oyster/Adams contributes, we can make this FIESTA the best ever!
Thank you, The Fiesta Planning Committee

Adams Campus Update: - The Middle School team is working on the course options for the coming year. We are dedicated to ensuring that the Oyster/Adams middle school curriculum is in line with the Wilson High School expectations for incoming 9th graders and have met with a representative from Wilson High School to learn more about what courses middle-schoolers need to have in order to build a successful application to one of the Wilson Academies. - The Playground Renewal Committee has met and has a good start on the changes that are needed. We will be providing more information on this soon. - The heat in the Adams building was completely turned off and then re-calibrated this week. Because it is an older building, this issue will need to be continually worked on. Please be assured, however, that it is receiving due attention.
