Come to the Oyster Bilingual Book Fair, which opens this Saturday, December 2, and runs until Sunday, December 10! The Book Fair will be open on Saturdays and Sundays, 10:00 am-5:00 pm, and Mondays through Fridays, 8:00 am-7:30 pm. Thousands of new books are available in English and Spanish! Get more information is attached about the Book Fair Café and the well-known authors who will be visiting Oyster for book signings.
Reserve your Christmas tree from Oyster's First Annual Christmas Tree Sale! Advance order forms are available in the Parent Room and completed forms should be placed in the box on the bench in the front hallway. We still need LOTS of volunteers to help sell trees! Please sign up on the board next to the elevator.
On Tuesday, December 5, at 11:00 am, the Teacher Retention and Recruitment Committee will meet with representatives of the Spanish embassy to discuss their teacher recruitment of native-speaker teachers at Oyster.
The Oyster-Adams Transition Team will meet on Wednesday, December 6, to continue working on transition issues and we will provide an update for the Friday Folders.
**Sr. Sacín** has been very ill this week and cannot talk or sing. We will let you know when he is able to reschedule the chorus practices.
Remember, no toys are permitted to be brought to school! This includes cards (such as Pokemon or YuGiOh), electronic games (like GameBoys), and Tamagotchis.
It is with great sadness that we inform you that the father of one of our 3rd grade students, Gary Augustin, died this week after a long illness. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a scholarship fund in Gary's name (checks payable to OCC). The room parents in Ms. Ross and Ms. Reyes's 3A will be helping to coordinate Oyster's response to the family's needs during this difficult time. If you have children who will be coming to Oyster next year in pre-kinder or kindergarten but have not spoken with your room parents for a survey, please contact one of your room parents by Monday, December 4. We want to ensure that siblings of current Oyster students will have space in our program next year.

Venga a la Feria Bilingüe de Oyster que comenzará este sábado 2 de Diciembre, ¡y durará hasta el domingo 10 de diciembre! Abriremos los sábados y domingos de 10 a.m. a 5 p.m., y de lunes a viernes desde las 8 a.m. hasta las 7:30 p.m. Habrá cientos de libros nuevos tanto en español como en inglés. Obtenga mas información en la hoja adjunta acerca de los famosos autores que visitarán Oyster para leer y firmar los libros. Además habrá un café durante la feria.
Reserve su árbol de navidad en nuestro Primer Mercado Anual de Árboles de Navidad en Oyster. Habrá formularios de encargo en el salón de padres y los formularios que rellene deberá depositarlos en la caja situada en la mesa del pasillo. ¡Necesitamos voluntarios para la venta de árboles! Por favor inscríbase en el tablón situado al lado del ascensor.
El martes 5 de diciembre a las 11 a.m. el Comité de Reclutamiento y Mantenimiento de Profesores se reunirá con representantes de la embajada de España para hablar sobre el programa de reclutamiento de profesores nativos que ellos tienen para Oyster.
El equipo para la transición Oyster-Adams se reunirá el miércoles 6 de diciembre para continuar con los asuntos que están tratando y de los cuales les iremos informando en los Friday Folders.
El Sr. Sacín se encuentra enfermo esta semana sin poder hablar, por lo que no habrá clase de coro. Le informaremos más adelante de la fecha en que podrá empezar las clases.

Sentimos mucho tener que informarles que el padre de un estudiante de tercer grado, Gary Augustin, ha fallecido esta semana después de una larga enfermedad. La familia ruega que en lugar de flores, la donación consista en una aportación económica para establecer una beca a nombre de Gary ( cheques pagables a OCC). Los padres lideres de salón de 3ªA con Ms. Ross y Ms. Reyes coordinarán la ayuda de Oyster para responder a las necesidades de la familia en estos momentos tan difíciles. Nuestro deseo es asegurarnos que los alumnos de Oyster tengan prioridad para los espacios del año próximo.
