Please remember that we want all students to be in the cafeteria and seated ready to begin the morning meeting at 8:35 am. We have noticed that families are arriving at 8:40 – this makes the day start late. Let's work on getting here just 10 minutes earlier.
Congratulations to our new 5th grade safety patrol! You will see them in the turnaround and at the front door to help our students get safely into the building.Many thanks to our 4th graders for coming early every day since the start of school to help with the younger children and the morning meeting. We are very proud of our 5th and 6th grade leaders.

There will be no school on Thursday, November 23rd, and Friday, November 24th. Enjoy Thanksgiving with your family and loved ones.
Chorus will begin on Monday, November 27th after school for grades 1-3 and December 1st for grades 4-6. Mr. Sacín has given the students information and you have a letter in your Friday folders so that you can sign your child up if you are interested.
After-school instrumental music classes also are starting on the 27th – Sr. Sacín would like to you to complete the application form and return it to yours child teacher.
Smile for the camera! Tuesday, November 28th, is Picture Make-up Day. Please send your child with their picture envelope and a check made out to Gallagher Photography if you would like for your child to have their picture re-taken.
There will be a Technology Meeting on Wednesday, November 29th. at 4:00 pm. If you are a techy or have an interest in helping the school in this area, please come to the meeting. We hope to create an overall plan with a timeline for action.
The Hispanic Heritage Committee will host a parent meeting on Wednesday, November 29th, at 6:15 pm in the cafeteria. We will continue the discussion on the Oyster/Adams transition and other items of importance. Hopefully, we will have more information to share. Please invite one parent – each one bring one – and make our commitment stronger.
On Friday, November 10, we attended a ceremony hosted by the U. S. Department of Education to officially receive our No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon Award. Because it was a holiday for our teachers, we chose our one teacher representative randomly by lottery. We appreciate Sr. Padilla for helping to represent Oyster at the ceremony.
We need volunteers to translate during our OCC General meetings on January 23, March 20, and May 22. We will need translators for the meetings which we will conduct in Spanish and English. Please contact Dana Cooper at 202-265-5084 if you can help.

Por favor recuerde que todos los alumnos deben estar en la cafetería sentados y preparados para empezar la mañana a las 8:35 a.m. Algunas familias están llegando a las 8:40 y esto retrasa bastante la puesta en marcha de las clases. Intentemos llegar a la escuela 10 antes.
Enhorabuena a nuestra nueva patrulla de quinto grado! Ellos están cada mañana en la zona de carga y descarga para ayudar a los demás estudiantes a entrar con cuidado a la escuela. Muchas gracias también a nuestros alumnos de cuarto grado por venir temprano cada día para ayudar a los más pequeños en la reunión de la mañana. Nos sentimos orgullosos de nuestros lideres de 5 y 6 grado.

No habrá clases los días jueves 23 y viernes 24 de de noviembre. Diviértase en el Día de Acción de Gracias con su familia y seres queridos.
El coro dará comienzo el lunes 27 de noviembre después de la escuela para los grados 1-3 y el 1 de diciembre para los grados 4-6. Mr. Sacín dará información a los estudiantes y les hará llegar en el sobre semanal un impreso para que usted lo rellene si esta interesado en que su hijo/a asista. También darán comienzo el lunes 27 de noviembre las clases de instrumentos musicales. El Sr. Sacín les informará. Llenen la solicitud y regrésenla al maestro/a de su hijo.
Sonría a la cámara! El martes 28 de noviembre es el día de las fotos. Si usted quiere que le repitan la foto a su hijo/a, por favor envíele con su sobre de fotografías y un cheque a nombre de Gallagher Photography.
Habrá una Reunión de Tecnología el miércoles 29 de noviembre a las 4:00 pm. Si es usted un técnico o esta interesado en ayudar a la escuela en este área, por favor asista a la reunión. Esperamos crear un gran plan de acción.
El miércoles 29 de noviembre a las 6 de la tarde habrá una Reunión del Comité Hispano para todos los padres con objeto de continuar informando sobre la transición Oyster-Adams y otros temas de interés.
El viernes 10 de noviembre asistí a una ceremonia ofrecida por el Departamento de Educación para recibir el **Premio de Listón Azul.** Como ese día fue feriado para nuestros maestros, escogimos al maestro que me acompañó mediante lotería. Agradecemos al Sr. Padilla por habernos regalado su día libre y acompañarnos en esta ceremonia.
Necesitamos voluntarios para traducir durante la Reunión General de O.C.C. los días 23 de Enero, 20 de Marzo y 22 de Mayo. La reunión será en español e inglés. Por favor contacte con Dana Cooper en el 202.265.5084 si puede ofrecer su ayuda.
