Hello Oyster-Adams families!  I hope you are enjoying your summer.  The Intermediate Campus at Adams is under massive renovation and the offices have been closed for at least two weeks.  All school business will be conducted from the Primary Campus at Oyster until further notice.  If you have still not enrolled for next year, please bring the forms to Oyster right away.  Thank you!

Hola Familias de Oyster-Adams.  Espero que estén disfrutando el verano.  El plantel intermedio de Adams está bajo renovación y las oficinas estarán cerradas por lo menos dos semanas.  Vamos a manejar todos los asuntos escolares desde la oficinas del plantel primario en Oyster.  Si todavía no a ha entregado sus inscripciones para el prómixo año, por favor, traigalas a Oyster lo más pronto posible.  ¡Gracias!

Dear Parents,
The Spanish Language Summer Camp called DE DOS begins Tuesday, July 6th. Registration remains open for children who have just completed PreK thru Grade 5 or are on the waiting list at Oyster. Registration forms are available at the Primary Campus.

El campamento de verano en español llamado DE Dos comienza el martes 6 de julio. Las inscripciones están abiertas para estudiantes de Pre-K a 5to grado y también para los que están en la lista de espera en Oyster. Las hojas de inscripción están disponibles en el plantel de primaria.

Dear Primary Parents: I want to alert you that we had a small fire in a
microwave today and needed to evacuate the school.  There was no fire
damage and no one was injured.  Our students are very used to evacuating
the building in a timely fashion and they did so again today.  Please
use this opportunity to talk about kitchen safety with your child.

Parents: Don't forget to come to the Parent Appreciation Breakfast tomorrow morning at the Primary Campus beginning at 9AM. Also, please make sure to vote for new LSRT members, tomorrow, (Friday, June 11). You can vote on either campus during drop off (8:15 - 10:30) and pick up (3 - 3:45) and (5 - 6:30).

Padres: no olviden de venir mañana al desayuno de apreciación para los padres, empezando a las 9 de la mañana en el Plantel Primario. También, hay que participar mañana, viernes, en las elecciones para nuevos miembres del LSRT.
Puede votar en Adams o Oyster mañana de 8:15 - 10:30 o la tarde 3 - 3:45 y 5 - 6:30.

Hello Oyster-Adams families!  This is a reminder that all students will be participating in field day activities tomorrow.  Please make sure your child wears athletic shoes and wears a hat tomorrow.  Also, please apply sunscreen and bring plenty of water.  Students at the Adams campus will have a picnic lunch.  Please send your 4th-8th grade child with a bag lunch tomorrow.

Hola familias de Oyster-Adams.  Este es para recordarles que todos los alumnos participarán en un día de acticidades deportivas mañana.  Asegúrense que su hijo/a traiga zapatos deportivos y un sombrero mañana.  También, apliquen crema para el sol y traigan mucha agua.  Los alumnos de Adams van a tener un almuerzo picnic así por favor, manden un almuerzo mañana con su hijo/a de 4to-8vo grado.

Buenos días, habla Monica Liang-Aguirre con unos recordatorios.

El lunes es día para visitar el próximo grado.  Todos los allunos de tercer grado deben de llegar al plantel de Adams a la hora regular.

También estamos buscando 3 nuevos padres para ser miembros del LSRT.  El LSRT es el equipo de padres y personal que se reune con la directora cada mes para guiar en asuntos estratégicos y del presupuesto.  Para asegurar representatación equivalente, necesitamos:  Un padre de habla inglés con niños en Adams y 2 padres con niños en Oyster--uno de habla inglés y uno de
habla espñaol. 

Si le gustaría ser candidato para el LSRT, favor de entregar su nombre, información de contacto y perfil personal breve a la oficina no más tarde el martes, 8 de junio.  También lo puede mandar electrónicamente a skstevenson@gmail.com. Las elecciones serán viernes, 11 de junio en los dos planteles.

Good morning!  This is Monica Liang Aguirre, with a few important reminders:

Monday is Move Up Day.  All 3rd graders should report directly to Adams on Monday morning at the regular drop off time.

Also, we are seeking 3 new LSRT parent members for next year.  The LSRT is a team of Oyster-Adams parents and teachers that meets monthly to advise the Principal on strategic and budgetary matters.  Based on the backgrounds of the existing members, we need to add 1 English speaker w/children at Adams, 1 Spanish speaker w/kids at Oyster, and 1 English speaker w/kids at Oyster.

If you would like to join LSRT, please submit your name, contact info and bio by email to skstevenson@gmail.com or to the school office at either campus by this coming Tuesday, June 8. Elections will be held at both campuses at drop off and pick up on Friday, June 11.

Happy Mother's Day, Oyster-Adams families...

This message is to remind you that tomorrow evening we will be having our Oyster-Adams Athletes Celebration for all 4th-8th graders that have participated in any after-school sports team this year.  Come celebrate a great season on Monday at 7PM.  Because of the gym construction at Adams,  the event will be at the Oyster Primary Campus cafeteria.  See you then!

Este mensaje es para recordarles que mañana en la tarde tendremos nuestra Celebración para los Deportistas de Oyster-Adams para todos los alumnos de 4to-8vo grado que han participado en un equipo deportivo este año.  Vengan a celebrar una temporada muy exitosa mañana, lunes a las 7.  Debido a la construcción en el gimnasio de Adams, el evento tomará lugar en la cafeteria del plantel de los grados primarios en Oyster.  ¡Nos vemos mañana!

Greetings Parent!  I hope you're enjoying your weekend.  This is to remind you that next week is Teacher Appreciation Week.  Please show your appreciation by bringing a flower to your child's teachers on Monday, a piece of fruit on Wednesday and a letter of appreciation on Friday!  Thank you for your support!

¡Saludos padres!  Espero que estén disfrutando el fin de semana.  Este es para recordarles que la semana que viene es  La Semana de Agradecimiento a los Maestros!  Favor de mostrar su apreciación por traer una flor a los maestros de su hijo/a el lunes, traer una fruta el miércoles y escribir una carta de agradecimiento el viernes! ¡Gracias por su apoyo!

Oyster-Adams families: The DC Water and Sewer authority announced elevated chlorine levels in the tap water in certain neighborhoods in NW. Although it appeared at first that Oyster-Adams' primary campus was affected, we were later informed that our neighborhood's water supply was safe. Therefore, we did not implement any water restrictions with students. Thank you for your concern.

Familias de Oyster-Adams: La Autoridad de Agua y Alcantarillado de DC anunció hoy unos niveles altos de cloro en el agua del grifo en ciertos vecindarios del Norte Oeste. AUnqu al principio parecía que el área afectado incluyó al plantel primario de Oyster-Adams, nos informaron después que el agua de nuestro vecindario está seguro. Por eso, no implemenatmos ninguna restrección de agua con los alumnos. Gracias por su preocupación.
